Training with Coyote Creek Outdoors is one of the best decisions you can make toward enhancing your skills. We have the only state-of-the-art indoor shooting range in Southeast Minnesota, offering crystal clear instruction and fully-equipped classrooms. Registration for classes is available through our sign up form here. We offer a complete training experience with our comfortable, state-of-the-art classroom. Our classroom can comfortably accommodate 32 students. All of Coyote Creek’s classes are taught by experienced and certified professional instructors. *Only ONE reschedule is allowed, NO REFUNDS*

Class Registration & Cancelation Policy

Coyote Creek Outdoors classes are filled on a first-come basis and payment must be made at the time of registration. Registration can be done in-person, via phone or online via our website. We accept all major credit cards. Requests for refunds or transfers may be subject to a $25.00 administrative fee. Although we make every effort to provide alternative options for classes, sometimes it is not possible to meet the needs of all. In the rare circumstance we do not have another class date that meets your needs, we will issue a full refund onto a store gift card. No cash refunds.

Permit to Carry Class

Note: If you are under the age of 21 you are not permitted by the state of Minnesota to legally carry and may not take this class. Although federally this is legal, per the state of Minnesota this is not allowed.

What is a Permit to Carry Course?

  • The Permit to Carry course at Coyote Creek will cover the safety principals, rules and laws that you need to know to safely and responsibly carry a firearm. Following the classroom instruction, you will do your live-fire exercises in our state-of-the-art Indoor Gun Range to complete the course.
  • Coyote Creek will provide you with everything you need for this course. All you need to bring to class is your Driver’s License, something to write with and a lunch/snack if you will need to eat during this course.
  • Once you complete and pass this course, you will meet the training qualifications required within the State of Minnesota to apply for your Permit to Carry.
  • A Permit to Carry constitutes a permit to purchase.

This is not a Shooting Lesson!

  • Please review the shooting qualifications for this course to make sure can complete this course.
  • Lessons and classes are available if you are not confident in your current shooting abilities.

Applying for your Permit

  • Upon completion of this class you will qualify to apply for (or renew) your Minnesota Permit to Carry a handgun. This class also fulfills the training requirements you need to apply for the Florida Permit; which gives you reciprocity in several other states.
  • To obtain your actual permit you will need to fill out the Permit to Carry Application and submit it to the sheriff’s office in the county where you reside.

Shooting Qualifications to Pass this Course

  • 40 shots fired at 7 inch square target using a Browning Buckmark Semi-Automatic 22LR caliber
  • Shots fired from a distance of 5, 7, 10, 15 yards. 40 round total. Must get 28 out of 40 rounds inside of a seven inch circle to qualify.
  • The shooting exercise is designed so that the shooter can demonstrate safe use of the firearm and shoot with reasonable accuracy (28 of the 40 shots must hit the target).
  • The Permit to Carry class is NOT A SHOOTING LESSON! You must have experience with a firearm in order to pass the Shooting Qualification portion of this course.
  • You must already know how to safely hold/grip, load, aim, fire and clear a handgun to attend and pass our Permit to Carry Course at Coyote Creek.

Handgun Experience is Required to get your Permit to Carry

  • If you do not have handgun experience you should not sign up for this course. A Permit to Carry is for responsible gun owners that are experienced with a handgun.

  • Registration for all of our classes is available on our website here.
  • Participants must register and pay for the course in advance to actually secure a spot in the class. These classes fill up quickly so you need to secure your spot online.
  • If you do not receive a confirmation email after you register and pay for your course; please check your SPAM folder. If you still have not received the email, please contact anna@coyotecreekoutdoors.com to make sure your registration and payment were processed successfully.
  • If you have a group of people that would like to take the Permit to Carry class together; we may have availability for you to book a private event. Please contact anna@coyotecreekoutdoors.com to discuss this further.
  • If possible, students should print out, read and fill out this Permit to Carry Class Waiver and bring it with them to class.

Permit to Carry Costs/Fees

  • Currently the Permit to Carry course at Coyote Creek is offered for $100.
  • If you sign up for an Annual Membership at our Indoor Gun Range, you will receive a FREE Permit to Carry class at Coyote Creek. Note: Annual Members should sign up for their permit to carry in store or by calling to register for their free class!
  • If you need to cancel or reschedule a class, you will be subject to a $25 fee.

Adult Intro to Handguns

Adult Introduction to Handguns and Fundamentals of Marksmanship
This introductory course is perfect for people who are new to firearms or handguns. This is a basic course, designed by top instructors, for people with little or no knowledge or formal training in safe handgun operation. Classes are limited to eight students for a more personal experience.

This is a perfect class for you if you:

  • Have never fired a gun
  • Have a gun in your home
  • Plan to purchase your first gun
  • Are concerned with personal safety
  • Have a fear of firearms
  • Are a responsible parent
  • Live with someone who owns or is interested in firearms.

We will teach you the basic skills, knowledge, and attitude necessary to safely own, use, and handle a handgun. Our goal is to make you:

  1. Safe. Our class is designed to familiarize new shooters with the safety and basic operation of firearms, especially handguns.
  2. Comfortable. With knowledge and training, you will be able to understand and properly handle a handgun.

What’s included?
This is a 2-1/2 hour course with top instructors, covering:

  • How to safely handle a handgun
  • Ammunition identification and basics
  • Revolver operation
  • Semi-automatic operation
  • Fundamentals of marksmanship with a handgun
  • Live fire exercise

Handgun and ammunition provided.

Please note: This is not a permit to carry class, but this is a recommended prerequisite for our permit to carry class. This course is not recommended if you are pregnant. Must be 21+.

AR-15 Fundamentals

This introductory class is for adults, both men and women, who are new to the AR-15. This course offers you the perfect opportunity to introduce yourself to shooting, whether it be for recreation or for personal protection. This unique class was developed by top USCCA instructors and is tailored to those who have never shot before or who have very little experience! This course is a recommended pre-requisite for our future AR-15 courses **Women who are pregnant should not attend this class.

What’s included?
This is a 3 hour course with USCCA instructor(s), which includes:

  • AR-15 nomenclature, safe operation, maintenance and more.
  • Live Fire Lesson in our state-of-the-art Indoor Gun Range
  • Next Steps – receive insight & recommendations for what you can do after this class to make you even more comfortable and confident with the AR-15 platform.

Max of 8 students per class and the class will begin on-time, NO late entries.

Cost:

  • Students are encouraged to bring their own AR-15, 50rds of ammo, sling & 3 mags, mag holster, eyes/ears: $100
  • Students may also rent this same package from Coyote Creek; must request prior to start of the course: $185

Private Lessons

Are you happy with the way you shoot a handgun? Looking for formal training with a handgun? Want to shoot a handgun you are not familiar with?

We offer private lessons that can help, for both beginners and intermediate shooters.

Starting with solid basics of safety, grip, stance, sight alignment, and trigger control, as well as the operation of the handgun, we can coach you to better handgun shooting.

This is a personal lesson that we can tailor to fit your needs. It is perfect for the intermediate shooter who already has some experience with a handgun and can safely handle a firearm, and, while we recommend the “Introduction to Handguns” for beginners, this class can also fit the needs of the novice.

Some examples that may help you:

  • You are looking for in depth formal training, focused on the fundamentals, to improve your handgun shooting.
  • You want help with the selection of a new handgun. We can look at the features in depth and examine the pros and cons of many different makes and models.
  • Rent one or more of our handguns, shoot them on our range, and compare and contrast how well each works for you.
  • If you have a new gun, maybe as a gift, and need some in-depth training with its operation.
  • If you have a favorite gun but just want more practice and training with it.

What’s included?

  • Personal instruction of 1-1/2 hours
  • One on one instructor to student training
  • Use one or more of our handguns or use your own
  • We provide eye and ear protection or bring your own.
  • This also includes targets and range time

Please note:

  • If you use our guns, you must purchase our ammunition.
  • If you use your own gun, you may purchase our ammunition or bring your own. All ammunition must be “range safe”: no armor piercing, steel, or aluminum cases.
  • If you have no handgun experience, we recommend you register for one of our group introductions lessons first
  • This is not a permit to carry class.
